Some spec configurations allow you to mix and match to give you a different type of aesthetic between leather and Racetex, or in cars like the RS models, you can go all out and have everything covered in Racetex.
My personal taste is to not overuse it as a design motif and incorporate it subtly throughout the interior. I’ve chosen to go with an upper leather dash in my 718 Spyder with the low portion, steering wheel, doors and seats in Racetex.
I don’t think you have much choice in some parts, for example, either you get the carbon bucket seats or the standard sports seats, both of which come with Racetex in the center portion of the seat.
Regardless, the two main parts that benefit from this material are the seats and the steering wheel. Its texture and design provide better grip for improved control during high-speed maneuvers. From the driver’s perspective, maintaining 100% control during high g-force turns can tremendously affect your car’s efficiency.

Still, I’ll provide an outline first, tape off any non-Racetex portions of the area you’re going to clean, then apply Sonax Alcantara cleaner sparingly over the surface (many people recommend using Sonax), brush the product into the area lightly and wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.
Repeat it as many times as you need to, depending on how dirty/oily your Racetex is. Finally, you can fluff up the material using compressed air or by lightly brushing it back and forth.

In my opinion, it’s an absolute must-have for certain models that are more race-inspired, like a GT3, than a standard 911 that is more focused on sporty comfort for the road.
